Sinn Féin TD Brian Stanley has “welcomed today’s announcement that the development and refurbishment of Monasterevin Day Care Centre has finally been approved with funding to follow in 2017.
The news that a design team will commence work immediately on plans for the extension and refurbishment of the building on Drogheda Street is welcome. This will ensure that all preparatory work is completed and the project is ready for funding early in the New Year.
Myself and my colleague Cllr. Tom Redmond have been making ongoing representations on this matter to the Regional Health Forum, Senior HSE management and to successive Ministers for Health. The reopening of the Day Care Centre, which has been closed for over 2 years, is vital for Monasterevin and the provision of services to the elderly in particular.
We will be endeavouring to make sure that these commitments are honoured and pressing for work to begin early in the New Year for this project”.
